There is never a shortage of glass lamp shades at my local Habitat for Humanity. The next best place to find glass shades are estate sales and auctions. I’m not a fan of too many thrift stores in my area for various reasons but, Habitat for Humanity is my best friend. They’ve had most anything I’ve ever needed.

I’ve said it before the messier the thrift store, estate sale, or auction, the better. That is until you get to the glass section. It can be terrifying. I have to say though, I’ve never seen anything quite like this. Usually it’s just 2 or 3 in a pile. This is an accident waiting to happen. These are some huge plastic tubs.

I tried so hard to get to the bottom of the totes and by that I mean I just stared at them for hours not touching a thing.

I did skim a few off the top but, luckily there were a good handful sitting on shelves. I lit up, pun absolutely intended, when I saw these Abigail Adams glass shades. I’ve sold a handful of these shades in my store before.

Each one I’ve found has been practically pristine outside of the typical little chipping around the fitter’s edge. I’d written about these gorgeous globes in this exact pattern before. They sold in no time.
