We're having a fun food day today. I made some bee We're having a fun food day today. I made some beef stock yesterday & decided to can it up using our fairly new NESCO canner. It holds 4 quarts which is what appealed to me instead of using our All American. Unfortunately 2 broke 😢 @mozzwald is smoking a Chuck Roast & threw in some eggs as a test. The eggs didn't take long at all so we enjoyed a couple & threw a few more on. I got this macrame piece at an auction a couple of I got this macrame piece at an auction a couple of weeks ago with a load of other items. As soon as it was placed in my hands, I see 1 of the little bears broken in half. Doh! So, I get home, unpack everything & place this off to the side to deal with later. After a few days, I went back to it & decided to look up how to repair pottery pieces. I figure, I love being creative so why not weave it into my reselling? Remember my puzzle piece project? I'm still working on those! 😂 So, I found a couple of videos on YouTube & now I've decided I really want to become a pottery repair person, lol. While the repair kit I purchased is in no way super professional, it worked for my needs & was a fairly quick fix. I matched the little bear head up with its body & coated it in the epoxy. I wrapped some painters tape over the head & under the feet basically pinching them together to hold in place. When dry, I sanded down the built up epoxy being careful not to put too much pressure just to knock the head off again. I cleaned up all the dust & repainted it a slightly darker blue. Luckily the other bear paint jobs aren't that great either 😉 Who's getting creative today?
I know some people show their hands or faces or le I know some people show their hands or faces or legs or other body parts (we've all seen THOSE reflections, no?) in their listing pictures but, I'm not usually one of them. I don't like when my hands are in the image & sometimes I can't avoid it but, I'm just not a fan. So, this is @mozzwald holding up a light fixture for me & I used Inkscape to remove his hands. It's not perfect but, it'll do. I don't have an Apple phone but, I remember someone showing me how you can click & hold on a portion of a photograph you take & it basically copies & separates it from the original. It was being delivered to a complex of some sort that they live in & apparently their front/main door was locked at 10:30am. It's too bad because it did arrive in time. Imagine my boss' surprise when I ran to get my UV flashlight as I said "Pretty sure that's Uranium glass." She had no idea what I meant & was shocked when it glowed. The buyer, requesting a refund, stating the item was not delivered even though tracking shows it was to the front desk. I didn't really just tell them to "look around" which sounds like I didn't care. I asked if they'd checked with the front desk, their neighbors, and even their local PO 📪 2.) It's hard for me to see what the buyer saw since it was in my hands however, I'm sure it was the reflection of the light which made it look white. We both admitted fault & at least they thought it was cute 👍 3.) This is a clear sign of someone not reading the description before purchasing. My description explained practically all of the things they had a problem with. Most of which I do believe can be fixed. Here's something non-fragile I created a package f Here's something non-fragile I created a package for. I picked up lots of old bumper stickers a while ago & I have multiple quantities of most. This was a small batch of 5. - What I've been doing when these sell is cutting up 2 pieces of an old box. - Each piece is longer & wider than the bumper stickers. - I shorten 1 piece & cut out a "dip", similar to an envelope. - The longer piece, I make a fold a couple of inches longer still then the stickers. - I tape the bottom & sides together & slide the stickers in to make sure it's not too tight. - The flap is folded over so when opened, the stickers are seen & can easily slide right out. - I also typed up little pieces of paper a while ago that state "make shallow cuts". Anywho, these were delivered just yesterday. We met up with some friends earlier this year & th We met up with some friends earlier this year & they said they'd wanted to find a flip clock. Well, of course, I'm treasure hunting often & this was the first flip clock I came across so I scooped it up & heard some rattling. Hmm, I wonder what that is? Oh well, I'm sure hubby can fix it 😂 He took one look at it & immediately got to work. I'm so happy he lives for some of this stuff too 💪 - In taking off the front casing, one piece, integral to holding it on, had broken off & was causing the rattling sound. He fixed this part by fusing it back on with a UV resin. - The casing's frame was cracked in the top center which he glued back together. - He cleaned up the glass front. - The alarm, while it made a sound, wasn't very alarm-y so he continued to clean it up thinking he'd look at it later. - He found a tiny bulb inside that barely glowed & found the exact type online. - The silver colored trim just outside the glass was worn away throughout so he used a silver enamel marker I had & touched it up. We set up the clock on a little table in our dining room & as we were eating dinner, the alarm went off. I said, "Oh, you got the alarm to work?!" Looking confused, he said "I guess so." 😅 So, don't know what finally woke the alarm up but, we're waiting on the bulb to arrive & we should be good to go! Can't wait to see what it looks like💡 Do you wake up to an alarm? They're from 1968 & due to age, use, and/or storage, some pieces are a bit bowed/warped. Each box has a number of smaller puzzles so I decided to stack each little puzzle in between some cardboard pieces. Then, I put the whole stack in a baggie & into its appropriate puzzle box. It won't fix the warped-ness, it'll do nothing really. I purchased & shared this lamp a few weeks ago & w I purchased & shared this lamp a few weeks ago & while it worked, I went ahead & rewired it. Based on my searches it appeared it was Royal Haeger but, most of what I saw showed authentic stickers proving it. I mean, how could it not be though? It's pretty distinctive. I ended up finding it in a 1953 Spring Lamp Catalog shared in a FB group I'm in & it's so exciting to see it. I noticed it does not have the finial mine has. I don't know if it was added later by the company or by the person who bought it. I don't want to remove it mainly because I think it works, even it wasn't originally there. Plus it can easily be swapped out if someone chooses 🤔 The catalog states SMALL TREE OF LIFE. Green agate with chartreuse Synskyn shade (fiberglass). Height 21". RETAIL PRICE $13.50....WHAAAAA???? Can you believe it?? I find Haeger ALL the time probably because it was made in Macomb, IL which is only an hour & a half drive or so away. Sadly, back in 2020 they discussed demolishing the Haeger Pottery buildings. It's a friggin' mess here 😬 @mozzwald bought It's a friggin' mess here 😬 @mozzwald bought a @dewalttough chainsaw today & can you believe I found a wood chipper at the thrift store today? 😲 I ran in before an appointment I had, saw the chipper, took a photo & sent it to mozz. I had to leave though & when I got to my appt. we connected & decided it would work for our needs. I ended up calling the store & purchasing over the phone 😀 Both new tools have been working perfectly so far. We also have the help we need & it's just gonna be a long few days 💙
